Veterans Committee of the Hudson Valley Consortium for Higher Education

(Founded 2013)

I. Consortium Operation

A. Meetings will be held from Noon- 3:00 pm. on the second Thursday of every month 10 months out of the year. There is no meeting in July and December unless otherwise specified.

B. The location of the meeting will rotate each month, with member institutions volunteering to host.

C. The host institution will provide lunch. If this proves to be a hardship, members will each contribute to the cost or bring their own lunch.

D. The Chair and Co-Chair will develop an agenda for each meeting.

E. Discussion to obtain consensus will be the prevailing procedure used at meetings.

F. Meeting minutes will be recorded for each meeting. They will be available to each member via the collaborative tool (Trello).

II. Subcommittees

A. Subcommittees will be appointed on an as needed basis by the Chair.

B. Subcommittees will elect their own chairs.

III. Officers

A. Officers will be elected by a simple majority. Officers will serve a one year term with the understanding that the Co-Chair assumes the Chair position at the end of their first term.

B. Officers may be re-elected.

C. Officers will include a chair, co-chair, secretary, and communications officer.

D. Officers will be elected at the June meeting of each year and will assume office as of July 1.

V. Member Responsibilities

Professional Membership

A. Each institution will delegate one member as the key contact for that institution.

B. The key contact is responsible for approving additional representatives from said institution.

C. The key contact is responsible for notifying the Communications Officer when a member from their institution has separated from the institution or their position no longer has a viable relationship to the mission of the Consortium.

D. The key contact is responsible for notifying the Communications Officer and designating a replacement as key contact when they separate from their institution or their position no longer has a viable relationship to the mission of the Consortium.

E. Each member is expected to attend at least 2 meetings per year.

F. Each member is expected to study the issues or problems which come before the consortium in order to contribute to the resolution process.

D. Receives invites to monthly meetings and other queries/announcements.

E. Access to the collaborative tool (Trello).

F. Voting member

G. Membership expires if member changes jobs and the position no longer has a viable relationship to the mission of the Consortium.

H. There are no dues or membership fees.

Informational Membership

A. Member’s position must provide a viable relationship to the mission of the Consortium.

B. The Professional Member (key contact) from said institution must approve membership.

C. Added to the member email distribution list.

D. Receives invites to monthly meetings and other queries/announcements.

E. Access to the collaborative tool (Trello) if requested.

F. Non-voting member

G. Cannot hold an office.

H. Membership expires if member changes jobs and the position no longer has a viable relationship to the mission of the Consortium.

I. There are no dues or membership fees.

Honorary Membership

A. Must have served as a member of H.V. Consortium when employed by institute of Higher Education.

B. Must provide a statement of how new/current position (outside of Higher Education) relates to the mission of the Consortium.

C. There must be no financial gain for the Honorary Member in maintain ties to the Consortium.

D. Must be voted on by current members (Professional) of Consortium and receive a majority vote for Honorary Membership.

E. Non-voting member.

F. Cannot hold an office.

G. Membership expires if Honorary Member changes jobs and the position no longer has a viable relationship to the mission of the Consortium.
